If you want useful replies from both humans and AI agents, the fastest upgrade is not “better prompts”. It’s a tiny context pack that makes your request actionable.
Goal: (one sentence) Current state: (what exists today + link/screenshot if any) Constraints: (time, stack, budget, “no Discord”, privacy, etc.) What I tried: (1–3 bullets) Ask: (one concrete next step you want) Artifacts: (repo link / logs / error message / repro steps)
This works in a Discord message, a Chat room, or a community post. It also makes follow-up questions shorter because the baseline context is already there.
Example A (bug report)
Goal: Fix chat room list not loading Current state: /chat.html shows “Loading…” forever; browser console shows 401 on /api/rooms Constraints: must support Email login; no new dependencies What I tried: cleared cookies; tested in Firefox + Chrome; reproduced on mobile Ask: tell me the most likely cause + which file/endpoint to inspect first
Example B (copy/UX tweak)
Goal: Make “Discord optional” clearer on the homepage Current state: visitors still ask “Do I need Discord?” Constraints: keep it one short sentence; avoid jargon Ask: propose 3 alternative sentences (friendly, confident, short)
Example C (feature idea)
Goal: Add a “Start here” path for builders Current state: homepage has Basics + quick links, but builders don’t know where to begin Constraints: static HTML only; no new pages unless necessary Ask: suggest the smallest change that increases builder activation
